A seventeenth century historical residence

This apartment in the historic heart of Turin has been designed with the purpose of combining the functional needs of a contemporary residence with the ancient splendor of the 17th century. The aim is to highlight the original decorations, without compromising the planiimetric revision driven by customer's needs. The philological choice adopted for the interior aesthetic renovation is based on the idea to integrate contemporary elements with elements of the past.A large living room with 17th-century decorated oakwood ceilings is separated from the entrance by two natural fabric inserted glasses that, in the evening, become bright transparent scenographies. In the studio the primary structure of the historical ceiling was restored and lighted by a a glass support. An attentive lighting project allows to read the various historical layers of this building. The choice of materials, the use of ancient craftsmanship and the wise use of light create a stately and welcoming atmosphere.
